Matthew Burgess working with PigVision in the UK

“The service we get from AgroVision is second to none. “

Matthew Burgess is the owner of Clumber Pigs in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. They manage 1600 sows in a hybrid unit where half of the sows are managed outside and half of them inside.

“The software of AgroVision is easy to use. Once you get to know the software, it becomes a routine job to add and edit the data in the software. This gives us the key figures we need to manage our sows in the best way possible.”

Breeding for a healthier, more efficient herd

A key focus at Clumber Pigs is maintaining a healthy, productive sow herd. “Breeding our own dam line gilts helps us close the herd and reduce disease risk,” says Matthew. “Plus, we can produce gilts at a much lower cost than buying them in.”

The results speak for themselves: “We’re currently achieving 28.5 pigs weaned per sow per year, with just under 12 piglets per litter.” But the team is always looking to improve.

Switching to AgroVision for better data management

Before AgroVision, Clumber Pigs relied on paper record, an unsustainable method for a growing operation. “When you’re dealing with large numbers, tracking everything manually becomes nearly impossible,” Matthew says. “That’s why we moved to AgroVision.” Now, all key breeding, farrowing, and weaning data is logged and analyzed digitally. “The software is easy to use, and once you know what to look for, it becomes part of the routine job to add and edit the data in the software. This gives us the key figures we need to manage our sows in the best way possible.”

Reliable support for continued success

Beyond the software, Matthew values AgroVision’s customer support. “If I struggle with reports, James Nesling, our area manager, is always there to help,” he says. “And if we need extra support, there’s always the option for an on-site visit.” Looking ahead, Clumber Pigs remains committed to innovation and performance. “We’ve learned so much over the years, and we’re always looking for ways to improve,” Matthew concludes. “With AgroVision, we’re heading in the right direction.”
